Charities supported:
Afghanistan Relief Organization • Delivers relief aid directly into the hands of the needy throughout Afghanistan, and offers general education programs designed to encourage self sufficiency at the ARO Technology Education Center (TEC) in Kabul. Founded in the United States in 1998, ARO is managed and operated as a primarily volunteer effort, by Afghans and Americans of varied backgrounds and faiths. ARO has distributed food, medicine, hygiene supplies, school supplies and winter relief supplies (blankets and clothing). It now provides education to over 800 youth and adult students.
FINCA • FINCA, the Foundation for International Community Assistance, provides financial services to the world’s lowest-income entrepreneurs so they can create jobs, build assets and improve their standard of living.
Food Bank For New York City • A member of America’s Second Harvest, the organization coordinates the distribution of food donations from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and government agencies to organizations providing free food to the city’s hungry.
Listen Campaign • The first annual Listen Campaign was launched in November, 2007, and intends to raise awareness and funds for 200 children’s charity projects around the world by encompassing a massive global media campaign.
Live 8 • Through gathering the voices of the people, Live 8 has managed to get promises from world leaders concerning increased financial aid, debt cancellation for 18 countries, and access to AIDS drugs and care for AIDS orphans.
Milo Gladstein Foundation • The foundation funds research aiming at the development of a therapy for Bloom’s Syndrome, a very rare genetic disorder, and seeks ways to prevent its complications, primarily the significant risk of developing cancers at early ages.
PETA • Founded in 1980, PETA is dedicated to establishing and defending the rights of all animals. PETA operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment. PETA educates policymakers and the public about animal abuse and promotes kind treatment of animals. PETA’s animal protection work brings together members of the scientific, judicial, and legislative communities to stop abusive practices. Aided by thorough investigative work, congressional involvement, consumer boycotts, and international media coverage, PETA achieves long-term changes that improve the quality of life for, and prevent the deaths of, countless animals.
Shoe4Africa • Shoe4Africa aims for empowerment through sports & education, creating unique health initiatives, and promoting Aids awareness.
The Lunchbox Fund • The Fund was founded in 2004, after a teacher noticed a group of students who had no food sitting where they didn’t have to watch the other students eat. Since then the organization has helped to provide food to disadvantaged children in order to help them grow and achieve their goals.
